Hanging in There!
I wonder if in another twenty years we will look back and reminisce about the COVID years and the crazy things we had to do because of it. Toilet paper shortages? Hand sanitizer mania? Masked teachers and students? Let's hope we can laugh about this years from now, because right now, it doesn't seem so funny.
Grace. If there is one word I'd like to emphasize this year it is grace. I think we need to give ourselves and others a bit of grace - that "courteous good will" so needed in our world right now. Be kind to yourself. Perhaps renegotiate your own personal expectations for your position and take time to relax, put away the screens, and decompress. You are working hard; don't burn yourself out. We are in a marathon, not a sprint!
Take a look at the resources available on the SWWC site for Employee Assistance. These are provided FREE to us as employees, so please take advantage of them.
Be sure to check out the Scholarships and Grants available to you this fall; deadlines are coming up so be sure to give yourself enough time to work on the applications and requirements. I received a Bruce Vento Science Educator Grant this year and am in the process of taking a Picture Perfect STEM course with the goal of becoming a trainer for the method. You can't receive money if you don't apply - so consider your options and apply!
We are better together,
