Welcome Back!

Picture
I hope all of you had a relaxing and rejuvenating summer - you certainly deserved it!

It's hard to believe it's August and we're gearing up for another school year, but here we go! I hope that this school year is a bit less chaotic than last year, but if we've learned anything - it's that we are all flexible!

Thank you for your continued support of our union. Earlier this month, your Executive Board sat down to outline our goals for the year; these will be communicated with you at our annual meeting on August 12.

We will meet on Thursday, August 12, immediately following the SWWC Virtual in-service. Please watch your personal email for the Zoom link that will give you access to the meeting. Please be sure to invite any CSA staff who are interested in joining our union; they are welcome to attend this meeting and learn more about how being part of a union is to their advantage and protection.

This year is a bargaining year for us. Our Negotiating Team, headed by Vice-President and Lead Negotiator Dan Bultsma, has already met with administration to get the bargaining process started. Dan will speak at our meeting to discuss with you the issues that the team is bringing to the table. Annie Dettman and Michelle Niehus are our other team members - a big thanks to all of them for their time and efforts. Please be sure to speak to any of them if you have any concerns.

Now is the time to get involved with our local union! We have a variety of opportunities open for you to fill - from Treasurer to Site Rep to Member Advocate. Please be sure to login into our Zoom Annual Meeting which will take place directly after the SWWC in-service on Aug. 12.  We will discuss the vacancies we need to fill, the direction of our union this next year, and having a bit of fun as we do so! (lots of prizes!!) You must be "present" (and a member) in the Zoom to win!

We are better together,

Karen Schulte
CSA President
